Steroid Injection Clinic
Targeted relief for persistent pain in adults.

For some adults with stubborn pain, steroid injections can provide effective, targeted
relief when other treatments have not been sufficient. At Foot Clinic NI, we offer both blind and ultrasound-guided
steroid injections performed by experienced, HCPC-registered podiatrists in a safe and
professional clinic setting.

UPPER AND LOWER LIMB INJECTIONS AVAILABLE.

Shoulder, Elbow, Wrist, Hand, Hip, Knee, Ankle and Foot.

When Are Steroid Injections Used?
Steroid injections (also known as corticosteroid injections) are commonly used for inflammatory
conditions in the foot and heel, including:
• Plantar fasciitis that has not responded to conservative treatments
• Achilles tendinopathy or bursitis
• Other inflammatory soft tissue conditions causing persistent pain
• Cases where rapid pain relief is needed to allow rehabilitation to progress

They work by reducing inflammation and pain in the affected area, often providing relief that allows
patients to engage more effectively with physiotherapy, exercises and other treatments.

What to Expect from a Steroid Injection
At Foot Clinic NI, steroid injections can be carried out under ultrasound guidance for precision and
safety, but this is not always needed. The procedure is relatively quick and is performed in our modern clinic.
Most patients experience some relief within a few days, although the full effect can take up to two
weeks. The duration of relief varies between individuals but can last several weeks to months,
depending on the condition being treated. We always discuss the procedure, benefits, and any potential risks with you beforehand so you can make an informed decision.

How Foot Clinic NI Can Help
Our clinicians have specialist training in ultrasound-guided injections. We combine steroid
injections with a full assessment and ongoing care plan, which may include orthotics, Shockwave
Therapy, rehabilitation exercises and footwear advice. This integrated approach helps address
both the immediate pain and the underlying causes of your heel or foot problem.
We will only recommend a steroid injection if it is clinically appropriate for your specific condition
and after discussing all suitable options with you.

Important Considerations
Steroid injections are not suitable for everyone. We carefully assess each patient’s medical history,
current medications and overall health before proceeding. In some cases, we may recommend
alternative treatments or refer you for further specialist opinion. Following the injection, we provide clear aftercare advice and arrange appropriate follow-up to monitor your progress and support your recovery.
